Top 10 Eminem Songs

Updated on August 29, 2012

Eminem (real name: Marshall Bruce Mathers III) is a rapper, songwriter as well as an actor, but more famous as a rapper. Eminem was born in St. Joseph, at Missouri on October 17, 1972.

Eminem is also known as Slim Shady. Eminem can make rhyming sentences very easily and therefore he is called the king of rap. You might be wandering why he is called “Eminem”. Actually, Eminem comes from his name Marshall Mathers. If you take the initials of his name, it becomes M.M. or simply M and M, which when pronounced is heard as “Eminem”.

Eminem has produced total 19 albums (both unofficial and official). All of his albums are famous, and almost all the songs are popular. It’s a hard call to decide which of his 10 songs can be in this list! In this article, I will mention my own Top 10 Eminem Songs list.

#10: The Real Slim Shady

The Real Slim Shady is a song launched on May 16, 2000 from the album “The Marshall Mathers LP”. It is a humorous and funny song which sold more than 20 million copies worldwide. It won “MTV Best Male Video”, “MTV Video of the Year” and “Grammy Best Rap Solo Performance” awards. Funny songs are always cool!

#09: Cinderella Man

Cinderella Man is a song from Recovery Album. He alone wrote this song, and is not so popular as compared to other songs. But, I really love this song. In this song, Eminem mentions how he changed to a sober man just like Cinderella (as he was addicted to drugs, and had reached to death due to his addiction)! Cinderella Man is a unique song as it has a bit different kind of formation. You will know how unique it is after you listen!

#08: Lose Yourself

Lose Yourself is a song from the soundtrack of 8 Mile movie. It was released on October 22, 2002 (5 days after the birthday of Eminem!). It sold more than 5 million copies worldwide. Eminem says that needs to achieve his goal and move on to success, here. It also provides you a “moral”. How a boy who failed 9th standard 3 times came to be the most famous rapper without getting proper care from his parents! It provides me self-confidence! This song is considered to be the most successful song ever made by Eminem.

#07: My Name Is

My Name Is is another hit by Eminem from the album “The Slim Shady LP”. It was the first single of the album. This song is all about fun and laughter. The video is really funny, too, and the song. A man and a woman are watching television. The man changes channels frequently and finally stops on a channel which starts with “Starring Marshall Mathers” and then the song begins. In the video, Eminem takes many avatars, such as Chemistry Teacher, Horror Guy, the President etc.

#06: ‘Till I Collapse

Till I Collapse is a song from the album “The Eminem Show”. This song gives me motivation, as it completely means that Eminem is not going to stop rapping and producing great songs until he dies! He says that we must not lose our hope; just try to try and move on to success. It is mainly based on the subject of rap. Late rapper, Nate Dogg has song the hook (chorus). It has superb music.

Length: 4:57

#05: The Way I Am

“Cause I am, whatever you say I am, if I was it then why would I say I am!” An awesome line from the song The Way I Am! This song is from the album “The Marshall Mathers LP” too. It was released again in the album “Curtain Call” in 2005. His awesome rhyming rap lines can be heard in this song. The continuous flow of the rhyming lines sung by him makes this song good. The chorus always plays on my mind. I have listened this song for many times, and I know almost all the lines!

Length: 4:52

#04: Stay Wide Awake

Stay Wide Awake, a fantastic song from the album “Relapse” comes in No. 4 in my list. Eminem calls himself “monster” in this song, and warns others not to come too near of him, because he is dangerous! The lyric of this song is really meaningful. It contains some awesome lines such as “Stay wide awake or you might be found dead by the side of a lake”. The music was composed by Dr. Dre (Andre Young).

Length: 5:20

#03: White America

Here comes the second runner up, White America! A superb song sung by Eminem which is from the album, “The Eminem Show”. He says how the Americans gave their lives for the “freedom” and to “protect” the US. He also describes about the “impact” he created to the US. He says that the Americans must be given the Freedom of Speech. It is funny as well as a bit “serious”. It also has an official video with “animated” cartoon avatars, and is funny too.

Length: 5:25

#02: Difficult

Difficult, the first runner up, from the album “Look At Me Now” is a tribute song to his best friend “Proof” who had passed away in 2006. He still remembers him in many of his songs, and he has given a tribute to him in this song. It is totally unique, it has no chorus (hook), only a line “Yeah, it’s difficult as it sounds”, and the music continues for about 20 seconds and next verse starts. In this song, he describes about the deep relation between him and Proof. You will find so many “unheard” things about Eminem. It always touches my heart.

Length: 4:39

#01: Cleanin’ Out My Closet

The best song for me, Cleanin’ Out My Closet, which has an awesome video. It is from the album “The Eminem Show”. It is all about his mom and his childhood. This song made me to be crazy on Eminem. It was the first song I listened of Eminem. He describes how badly he grew when he was a child. The video features a child who is hated by his “step-mom”, and the child even writes “I am Sorry, Mama” in a piece of paper, but the mom tears it out, and leaves the room. He mentions his daughter, Hailie as well as his childhood friend Ronnie, who had died from a gunshot in 1991.

(Updated)

I decided to add some Eminem songs that I listen to frequently. Here’s the list:

· If I had a Million Dollars

This song is also known as If I Had in the Slim Shady LP album. This song is from the album ‘The Slim Shady EP’ released back in 1997. The beginning of the song defines life, friends, and money. He says ‘What is life? Life is like a big obstacle, put it in front of your optical to slow you down, and every time you think you gotten past it, it’s gonna come back around and tackle you to the damn ground’ and he mentions similar touchy things about friends and money. He has become tired of life and he wants to go to the tours, sign in deals and become a millionaire.

· Just the Two of Us

This song is from The Slim Shady EP too. Another song, with same lyrics, but different beginning called ‘97 Bonnie and Clyde is from The Slim Shady LP. Eminem takes Hailie to the beach with his dead wife in the car’s trunk. In the last verse, they two throw the body to the lake.

· As the World Turns

This song from The Slim Shady LP has an amazing lyrics and it’s funny. Eminem mentions some stories (fictional) that happened throughout his life. If you extremely like Eminem’s funny songs, then you should not miss this.

· Guilty Conscience

Eminem featuring Dr. Dre, this song mentions the story about three persons whose lives are about to be destroyed. Dr. Dre and Eminem appear as their conscience where Dr. Dre provides good suggestions and Eminem forces them to continue the bad job they were doing. It’s from the Slim Shady LP and a funny one.

· My Fault

Eminem is blamed by the girl as the girl ate 22 mushrooms all at once and she is about to die. Eminem starts blaming himself too at the end. All the voices in the song are by Eminem. The girl dies at the end and we hear the sound of Eminem crying.

· Rock Bottom

It’s a sad and heart-touching song. He mentions how people do such hard works and struggle for their lives while other fortunate people live a good life. People, as mentioned in the song, are so depressed that they are as down as the rocks at the bottom of the river. Eminem himself used to work in a small restaurant, a pizza shop and as a gas station clerk once.

· Role Model

This song is mainly dedicated to the critics. He was called a bad role model. So, he made this song and he threw all of his excellence here. It’s like an answer to the critics who considered him nothing. It has excellent lines and rhymes.

· Criminal

This song from The Marshall Mathers LP is another funny song by Eminem. It shows that Eminem says whatever he wants to in his songs. He doesn’t care about the people who are against him. Some people consider his rhymes offensive, and call him a criminal, so Eminem made a song about it that he doesn’t care a bit about them.

· Kim

As I mentioned earlier, Eminem says everything he has in his mind. In this song, he has a fight with his wife Kim and the conclusion is Eminem killing Kim. It shows how depressed Eminem has become because of her. It is considered to be the most vulgar song by Eminem.

· Who Knew

It’s another funny song with simple intention i.e. to give us laughs. This song contains some famous quotes like ‘So, you want me to watch my mouth? How? Take my eyeballs out and turn them around?’ and ‘Damn! How much damage can you do with a pen?’

· Business

This song is clearly dedicated to Insane Clown Posse. Eminem created a flyer for his album The Slim Shady EP where ‘Featuring appearances by Esham, Kid Rock, and ICP (maybe)’ was written. Eminem went to the ICP with this flyer and they asked why ‘maybe’ was written. So, they rudely replied that they wouldn’t come to the release party. Later they even dissed Eminem by changing his alter ego. This is the reason he made the song called Business as a reply again.

· Rain Man

‘You find me offensive, I find you offensive for finding me offensive’. Yes, this line is from the song Rain Man. He just did a whole song and didn’t say sh*t. So, it doesn’t have a serious meaning.

· Spend Some Time

I understood that rappers really don’t fall in love and the consequence is broken heart for both the rapper and the girl from this song. It features Obie Trice, Stat Quo and 50 Cent.

· Puke

This song has a clear meaning. Eminem pukes everything he thinks of Kim. My friend listens to this song every morning!

· Without Me

Another funny song, where he mentions that he is made for controversy. He loves to create controversies. He is providing the world with what they need i.e. controversy. The rap world is just empty without him.

· Evil Deeds

This is a great song by Eminem. Anybody who listens to this song will appreciate Eminem’s talent. In this song, he has mentioned about his childhood, importance of his father. He has mixed everything here that he was bullied, his mom’s behavior when he was a kid, about Hailie etc.

· Like Toy Soldiers

This song has awesome flow, beat and lyrics. This song is closely related to Ja Rule’s dissing to Eminem. They two had feuds between each other. Eminem explains that feuds always lead to death in Rap Music.

· Fack

This is one of the funniest songs by Eminem. It is extremely hilarious. It really doesn’t have a serious meaning.

· Mocking Bird

This song is about his daughters. Whitney was not there at that time. It depicts his life struggles. It’s touching. Eminem is ready to do anything for his daughters. He has also apologized to his daughter Hailie for not being with her at times.

· Mosh

Eminem protests the then President of the USA. He is not happy with Bush’s ideas. This is a song with positive thoughts as it encourages the citizens to think about their country.

· Déjà vu

This song is about his rehabilitation. In 2004 or 2005, he overdosed and this caused him to go unconscious. Doctors say that he would die in two hours if he was not taken to the hospital. Despite of all this, he released one of the greatest rap albums, Relapse.

· 3 AM

This song from Relapse Album where Eminem is a serial killer. He is a blood addict. He likes blood. He might have chosen 3 AM as the song’s name because the night is the darkest at 3 AM and it is believed that all the spirits come into action at this time. One cannot escape from Eminem!

· My Darling

I especially like the voice of Eminem in this song. It seems like Eminem’s evil alter ego wants him to come back and continue his career, but Eminem refuses.

· Underground

After four years of silence, he has finally returned. He has revived and he is back with all the energy. His alter ego is back again. It’s a long song, 6 minutes and 11 seconds.

· We Made You

It is a funny song. I can’t explain much about this song, but it shows that Eminem has got much famous because of dissing the celebrities.

· On Fire

Eminem is just great, and he says ‘Mr. Mathers is the man’. It doesn’t have much meaning. It is just another classical piece by him.

· So Bad

This is one of my favorite songs. It looks like Eminem is mentioning his ‘craziness’ in this song!

· Seduction

As the title suggests, it’s all about seduction. It is a pretty good song, though.

· Cold Wind Blows

It is the first track of Recovery. So, it has strong bars and rhyming. He is cold as the cold wind blows. He will never change and remain Shady till his death.

· A Kiss

This song is by Bad Meets Evil (Eminem and Royce Da 5’9). A girl wants a kiss from Eminem and Royce, but they two end up thinking about something bigger.
